As previously advised ASGA is in the process of developing an industry campaign around the low value importation threshold of $1000 and the negative effect on our industry resulting from its lack of enforcement and misuse.

 

 

On 29th July, 2010 the Australian Tax Office announced that it was launching a new data matching program that will identify individuals and businesses who have sold more than $20,000 worth of goods and services a year on websites such as Ebay and Trading Post.

 

 

TaylorMade extends deal with China Golf Association
The TaylorMade Golf Company has entered a new three-year agreement with the China Golf Association (CGA) that appoints TaylorMade and adidas Golf as the exclusive equipment suppliers and the recognized brands of the China National Golf Team.

The Annual General Meeting of the Australian Sporting Goods Association will be held on Tuesday, 26th October at AMMI Park Stadium at 4:30pm.The AGM will form the last part of the ASGA Industry Conference. Global sportswear market down in 2009 – Report
The NPD Group, Inc., a leading market research company, released the results of its fifth annual study on the global sports market, Global Sports Estimate 2010. This year’s report shows that the worldwide sports market has declined for the first time since 2005. Accordingly, global sales of sports equipment, apparel and footwear is valued at 282 billion USD (€213 billion) for 2009, which is a 2 percent decline from 2008.

The Careers in Sport (www.careersinsport.com.au) jobs portal launched last year by ASGA has recently undergone some major upgrades to provide both the employers and candidates a much more user friendly system. Based on feedback received during the first years operation the Careers in Sport upgrades have included features such as the integration of the application process through your own jobs portal and a simplified Skill match test that is now 100% flexible.
