ASGA has called on Members of Parliament to toughen intellectual property laws and protect brand owners from counterfeit activity.  ASGA has written to every Federal MP seeking amendments to the legislation and  has called for touger laws.

The Intellectual Property Laws Amendment (Raising the Bar) Bill 2011 currently before the Parliament  doesnt go far enough and more needs to be done to stop counterfeit products at the point of entry or manufacture.

ASGA JOINS FIGHT TO SAVE SPORTS COVERAGE

ASGA has added its support to keep sport on the ABC.

ASGA has added its support to two campaigns.

The first is a campaign in South Australia to keep local SANFL telecasts on the ABC.

The national broadcaster, the ABC, have forshadowed reducing or cutting telecasts of the South Australian National Football League. ASGA has swung its support behind the campaign to keep local footy coverage, fearing that the ABC might cut telecasts in other states and reduce the free to air coverage of other sports as well.

In addition to the cuts to football the ABC has announced plans to stop television lawn bowls. ASGA has taken the step of writing to ABC Chairman, Mr Maurice Newman opposing cuts to sports coverage and supporting the campaing to keep sport on the ABC.

Mizuno U.S.A. reporting record revenue and profit in 2010. The company,  whose Japanese parent reported results last week, indicated that it enjoyed an uptick across the board in each of its core products divisions, including golf, running, baseball, softball and volleyball for footwear, equipment and apparel. In addition, the company said it has doubled the investment in brand marketing infrastructure from 2010 to 2011.

survimagesASGA is undertaking an evaluation of its Market Intelligence Survey’s and I urge all industry participants to provide feedback about ASGA’s survey offerings, whether they are subscribers to the surveys or not. 

It is important that we obtain a cross section of advice and a thorough evaluation of our service offerings, so that we can ensure the surveys we are providing in 2011/12 financial year meet the needs of the membership.
The survey will run until the 18th of May and the results will be presented to the ASGA Board for consideration at its meeting on Friday 20 May.
