ASGA joins anti-counterfeit business lobby AUSCAP

The Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA) is very pleased to join the newly created Australians to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (AUSCAP), a coalition of industry groups, businesses and trademark owners working to stop the illegal trade in consumer goods. New research provides wake-up call for women’s active wear brands and retailers

Women make a sharp distinction between function and style when purchasing active wear, according to new research from the Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA). In a pointed warning to active wear brands and retailers, the Active Wear: Forecasting Future Trends in Female Consumer Behaviour research project, found women will pay more for functional active wear that provides comfort, is breathable and hides sweat but will pay less for style-based active wear that looks good and is assumed to have only basic functionality. The Australian Sporting Goods Association is calling on industry experts in the design, branding, marketing and retailing of women’s active wear to sign up for the Delphi Study of the Active Wear: Forecasting Future Trends in Female Consumer Behaviour research project. The sporting and active lifestyle goods industry today welcomed the announcement that Sally Bateman, Finance Director of Nike Australia, and Terry Dopper, General Manager – Sport at ARL, have been appointed to the Board of the Australian Sporting Goods Association (ASGA).
