ASGA is pleased to announce Mick Spencer from sportswear company ONTHEGO, who recently received $600,000 funding from three investors on the hit Channel 10 reality show Shark Tank, will be presenting at the ASGA Conference on Thursday 23 June 2016.
Mick will be talking about how he launched his business as a 21 year old from his parent’s house in Canberra, to supplying David Jones and launching in overseas markets including China, India and Fiji. He’ll also give his thoughts into what happened on the show and how he prepared for it.
His recent appearance on Shark Tank resulted in a joint $600,000 investment for a 30 per cent stake in the company from three of the ‘sharks’: Boost Juice founder Janine Allis, Talent2 International’s Andrew Banks and tech start-up multi-millionaire Steve Baxter.
“It’s an incredible experience. Being able to pitch your start-up to a room of entrepreneurs collectively worth more than $1 billion, and get live feedback and critical analysis on your business, is truly priceless,” Mr Spencer said.
Mick will join Professor Clare Hanlon, from Victoria University, who will be presenting insights into how brands and retailers in the women’s active wear space can improve their products, marketing and consumer experience at ASGA’s Conference on Thursday 23 June in Sydney.
The presentation will be based on the latest research from ASGA’s Active Wear: Forecasting Future Trends in Female Consumer Behaviour research project.
A focus on how brands and distributors can successfully work with retailers will also be a major theme of the Conference. Erica Berchtold, Managing Director the Super Retail Group’s Sports Division, will provide her insights on the issue during a panel session on the day.
The Conference is part of the National Sports Convention at Rosehill Racecourse in Sydney on Thursday 23 June 2016.
More details about the event will be announced in the coming weeks, but all ASGA members and other companies involved in the sporting and active lifestyle industries are encouraged to keep Thursday 23 June free to attend this innovative event.
Your admission to the ASGA conference will also include a special deal to attend the National Sports Convention.
